I feel bad for these people who are stuck in Hell just because they were born before the time of christianity. It says that human reason alone cannot get you to heaven which makes sense. However they lived good lives and were not bad people so it is sad.

They had to wait because Christ hadn't died for their sins yet. It wasn't really fair that they had to wait, because it wasn't their fault they lived before Him. But nevertheless, that's the way it worked.
to respond to Carrie, it is sad that good people had to go to hell because they didn't hae faith. It makes you think of people today, people who live sin-free lives but don't know the word of God.

Racheal, to answer your question on this, its not like God was saying, "hey even though you believed in me, guess what? you're going to have to wait. It was that the gates of Heaven were shut after God threw out Satan, then Lucifer, and all of the other angels that went against God. After he did this he knew that he would have to send his son to save the world of their sins and to open the gates of Heaven again. ANd to tell you the truth, I'm sure people who were so strong in the word and faith were'nt mad at God for a second for making them wait. They knew that paradise would come and that the repayment at the end of the road would be so much better and worth anything they had to go through there.

They had to wait because Christ hadn't died for their sins yet. It wasn't really fair that they had to wait, because it wasn't their fault they lived before Him. But nevertheless, that's the way it worked.

Racheal, to answer your question on this, its not like God was saying, "hey even though you believed in me, guess what? you're going to have to wait. It was that the gates of Heaven were shut after God threw out Satan, then Lucifer, and all of the other angels that went against God. After he did this he knew that he would have to send his son to save the world of their sins and to open the gates of Heaven again. ANd to tell you the truth, I'm sure people who were so strong in the word and faith were'nt mad at God for a second for making them wait. They knew that paradise would come and that the repayment at the end of the road would be so much better and worth anything they had to go through there.
