Lines 37-57

How many faces does Stan have, and what colors are they? What are his wings like? What is his "eternal dinner"?

He has 3 faces. One is red, the other was white & the last one he describes as something people would see in the Nile. His wings had a span like a bird but they were not feathers, they had their texture and form like a bat's. He eats 3 people for his eternal dinner.

I think it is interesting the way Dante describes Satan. It is ironic in a way and contradicts the modern day belief that Satan is all red with horns and a pitchfork.

Carrie is right about his faces and his wings, but when I read about his eternal dinner, I take it as these three sinners who are stuck in his teeth. They are always being chewed on, since they are in satan's mouth, so they are in eternal pain. Satan feeds off their pain, and that pain is his eternal dinner.

That is a really good point Rachael, I never thought of like that.

I agree, but when you think about it, you figure you'd get used to being constantly gnawed on!
