The reason Dante considers flattery as a sin is because flatterers usually flatter to get what they want. For example... "Miss Morrison, your hair looks great today. Can we take our quiz tomorrow instead?"

I dont understand why they would put compound and simple fraud together instead of placing them in diffrent rings.
They are symbols of emotion out of control, like love without restraint. They are the monsters that could well up inside of ourselves if our emotions no longer guide us, but control us.
i don't understand what it means by the giants welling up inside of us and taking control. is it saying that our emotions grow out of hand and control us?
I think it is appropriate for the levels to be called ditches. Dithes signify death, and therefore the sinners can only be tortured repeatedly, which is the closest to death that they will ever come to.

What are you supposed to do?
Use the virtual tour link to explore each section. Begin with the Dark Wood, then the Vestibule, and then the circles. Read the given information for each location. For each location, you should find something that you want to comment on or question.
An excellent comment has two characteristics: 1. It should include either a quote from the text (found either in your book or online) or a definition or researched fact that helps you understand the reading. 2. You must also include your thoughts or reaction to the remnant you use.
