136-143. Dante and Virgil emerge from Hell. What might the stars symbolize in these lines?

I think the stars might symbolize little lights of God- like the first hope. After being in hell for so long, I'm sure the stars are a beacon of light to Dante.
The stars symbolize the light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. After being in the darkness of Hell for so long... Dante now sees light. It further shows that God is always there and will never abandon you.
Elizabeth and Carrie are both right. It said that Dante ended his poems with symbolism of heavenly stars. They stand for hope. As they were climbing up the mountian they were in darkness, but as they keeping climbing they see light. I think Dante was trying to say some parts of your journey are in darkness, but sometimes you see.
Unfortunately, our book only includes a few sections of Dante's Inferno, so we will be using our books and online resources to explore the depths of his allegory.
Our goal is to collect remnants of the Inferno and your own comments and display them on this blog.
What are you supposed to do?
Use the virtual tour link to explore each section. Begin with the Dark Wood, then the Vestibule, and then the circles. Read the given information for each location. For each location, you should find something that you want to comment on or question.
An excellent comment has two characteristics: 1. It should include either a quote from the text (found either in your book or online) or a definition or researched fact that helps you understand the reading. 2. You must also include your thoughts or reaction to the remnant you use.
Once you make you comment, respond to someone else's.
Then move to the next section.
All in all, you should have at least 2 comments for each post.

They might symbolize enlightenment. Like, he has finally come through hell, and now he is realizing everything.
